About Me
Finding Inspiration at Every Turn
My Story
I am Irene, an MA TESOL professional with over 13 years of experience in administration, customer service, training, and English language teaching. Originally from New Delhi, India, I now live in the United States, where I have continued to grow as an educator with a strong interest in second language acquisition, teacher support, and curriculum development. My journey into TESOL began with a deep appreciation for language, culture, and communication. Over the years, I have taught students in diverse contexts and worked with prospective ESL teachers, which has strengthened my commitment to creating supportive, meaningful, and learner-centered educational experiences. My background in both corporate and educational settings has shaped my teaching approach to be clear, compassionate, structured, and practical. Beyond classroom teaching, I am especially interested in teacher mentoring, materials development, multilingual education, and digital learning. I am passionate about contributing to language programs in ways that support both learners and educators. My goal is to help others grow in confidence, communication, and opportunity through thoughtful and effective language education.
Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that language learning is a dynamic, meaningful, and deeply human process. Teaching English is not just about grammar and vocabulary; it is about helping students build confidence, communicate effectively in real-world contexts, think critically, and engage with people from different cultures. I aim to create a classroom environment where students feel supported, respected, and empowered to grow. My desire to teach English comes from personal experience. Growing up in India, I saw how limited English proficiency could affect people’s opportunities, confidence, and sense of belonging. Watching friends and loved ones struggle to socialize, find jobs, or be fully understood shaped my desire to become an English language teacher. Those experiences continue to influence the kind of educator I hope to be. I believe students learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process. For this reason, I value student-centered teaching and design lessons that include meaningful interaction through discussions, presentations, role-plays, collaborative tasks, and real-world communication. I also believe strongly in integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing, because language skills develop best when they are connected rather than taught in isolation. As a teacher, I see myself as a facilitator who guides, supports, and scaffolds learning rather than simply delivering information. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel safe to participate, take risks, and build independence. I also believe that language and culture are closely connected, so I strive to foster intercultural awareness, empathy, and respect alongside language development. Careful planning and continuous assessment are also central to my teaching. I value detailed lesson plans that create purposeful, balanced instruction while still allowing flexibility to respond to students’ needs. I view assessment as part of the learning process and use it to provide feedback, encourage reflection, and help students recognize their growth. Above all, I believe that teaching requires continual learning. Language is always evolving, and effective teaching grows through reflection, study, and experience. My goal is to create inclusive, practical, and empowering learning experiences that help students not only learn English, but also open doors to greater confidence, connection, and opportunity.I am Irene, an MA TESOL professional with over 13 years of experience in administration, customer service, training, and English language teaching.
